It was a meeting of fabulous food and fashion at The River East Arts Center as Dose Market returned for a second round on Sunday, July 10. The monthly market, which launched its first run in June, is an opportunity for local artists and artisans to share their products – everything from clothing and jewelry to vintage wares to free trade coffee to artisan treats. Many of the goods are handmade, sustainable and organic – and it’s all offered with pride by dedicated vendors.
July’s market featured designs from Lisa Spagnolo, Elegantly Wasted, Frei Designs, and Shades of Grey, just to name a few. Seedling Fruit quenched market-goers’ thirsts with fresh berry smoothies, and Crop to Cup provided a quick caffeine fix with their free trade brews. The morning kicked off with a special guest and a special wakeup – local chef Grant Achatz, whose new restaurant Next and bar The Aviary have taken the city by storm, was on hand with complimentary cocktails. Other bites included gluten-free goodies by Defloured, handmade pastries from By M Desserts, Hoosier Mama pies, Black Dog Gelato, and savory turkey sandwiches, raw veggie wraps and summery quinoa salad from City Provisions. X-Marx and Rare Tea Cellar transformed the back hall of the center into Wuchang Tea House. The pop-up tea house, complete with festive burlap tables and lanterns, featured traditional Chinese food and drink with a local flair.
Tickets are available for $10 at the door and $8 in advance online. Do Dose membership cards, good for 6 months of admission, can also be purchased for $30 – a fantastic deal since we guarantee you’ll be hooked after one visit!
